Community Selichot Program and Service on Saturday, September 16
The community Selichot program and service will be held at Congregation Beth Torah on Saturday, Sept. 16. The evening will begin with a dessert reception at 8pm, followed by Havdalah at 8:45pm. Then at 9pm, there will be an open rehearsal of Jon Adam Ross’s,“The Sarah Play.” It is one of five interactive plays that he has written for five different U.S. cities. “The Sarah Play” explores the relationship between Sarah and her servant, Hagar, not in the context of biblical times but with Kansas City as a backdrop. The Selichot service will start at 10:10 p.m. and lasts about an hour. Choir members, instrumentalists, cantors, music directors and rabbis from Kansas City and the surrounding area will lead the service with Lara Steinel conducting the musicians. People are invited to attend any or all of the events, no tickets necessary.
