A Sukkah for All: Social Justice & Celebration
A Sukkah for All, Sunday, October 8 @ 3 – 5 pm, Manheim Park + Garden, Co-sponsored by Jewish Vocational Service and Jewish Family Services.
Explore your role in creating a more just world, craft, nosh and reconnect with nature. All ages are invited, and all materials and food are provided.
Beginning five days after Yom Kippur (The Day of Attonement), Sukkot is named after the booths or huts (sukkot in Hebrew) in which Jews are supposed to dwell during this week-long celebration.
Jews have historically been agents of change, repairing the world through hands-on direct service, rooted in, and inspired by, Jewish values, tradition and ritual. Join Jewish Partnership for Justice and Service in meaningful opportunities throughout the year that allow people of all ages and observances to live out their Jewish values and Judaism’s obligation to repair the world, in partnership with the refugee community.
This program is sponsored by Jewish Partnership for Justice and Service: A Collaborative project of Congregation Kol Ami, Jewish Vocational Service and Jewish Family Services and co- sponsored by Jewish Voices United.
This program is made possible by a generous grant from J-LEAD, (Jewish Leadership, Education, Action and Development), a program dedicated to encouraging young Jewish adults in Kansas City to join together to make a substantive impact on the Jewish community.
